COMMUNITY & SCHOOL GARDENS
KHOWHEMUN COMMUNITY GARDEN & AREA REVITALIZATION
This project is a collaboration between Qwiyahwultuhw and Jasmine Rose Oberste, to support food sovereignty and connection between community and land. They have taught youth together to engage in native eco restoration projects with an emphasis on elevating Indigenous voices. Together they won the 2021-2022 Permaculture Institute of North America’s first prize, as well as grants from Tree Eater Farm on Denman Island and the Jane Goodall Foundation. SUNRISE WALDORF SCHOOL GARDEN
Jasmine designed and developed the school gardens at the Sunrise Waldorf School to include an edible Student Learning Garden, a Textile & Natural Dye garden, an Orchard and a Market garden as well as multiple outdoor classroom spaces to support the community’s regular use of the gardens. This project was funded in part by the Whole Kids Foundation grant as well as countless hours of volunteer parents and local community donations. MOSAIC, OUTDOOR CLASSROOM & DYE GARDEN
With Through collaboration of students, faculty, administration, the board of directors and many parent volunteers we created a new Outdoor Classroom space surrounded by a Textile & Natural Dye Garden.
